About Al-Hewar Center and Al-Hewar Magazine
Al-Hewar Center (1994-2023):
Al-Hewar Center was an independent
forum for dialogue among the various members of the Arab community with
the goals of finding common ground within the community as well as bringing about greater
mutual understanding between the Arab community and American society at large. The Center
was designed to facilitate the participation of a wide and diverse audience, and membership
was open to all. The Center did not take positions, nor was it
affiliated with any country, organization, political party or ideology; rather it provided
a forum for respectful dialogue that was open to all opinions.
We hosted weekly events on-line and occasional in-person events in Vienna,
Virginia. Al-Hewar Magazine established Al-Hewar Center in metropolitan Washington, D.C. in
December 1994. Sobhi Ghandour (1952-2023) was the Founder and Executive Director. More information

and its culture and politics. The magazine was published in Arabic and English
