Department of Justice, Community Relations Service

The Community Relations Service is an agency created by the Civil Rights act to serve as a conciliating service in community conflicts based upon race, color or national origin.  We are a small, but experienced component in the Justice Department.  We are not an investigatory or enforcement agency.

Our assistance often involves hate crime response, linking location community with local government, training, mediation and other approaches to mitigate against conflict.  Further information can be access at the Department of Justice website <www/usdoj.gov> and going to Community Relations Service in the component listing.
